THE OBJECTIVE

Our Company’s objective and philosophy can be classified as such:

A) The introduction, the appreciation, and the implementation of the carpet culture and art in the Asia Pacific.

If we looked back early 1990s, when Mega Carpet first time anchored in Malaysia, there were no more than 3 shops in Kuala Lumpur who were trading in Oriental Hand-woven carpets.

  FROM THE PRESIDENT: “THE PRODUCT”

Hand woven carpet is a traditional art which in the course of its development has transferred the cultural and esthetic values of the ages to the present.
Due to its labor intensive characteristics, production of hand woven carpets, performed mainly by the female population, has greatly contributed to the increase of employment particularly in countries like Turkey, Iran, Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and China.
Since it is a very important field of production, both for the economy of the above countries and for the preservation of their cultural inheritance, measures are taken to expend and develop the manufacturing of hand woven carpets which in turn, will lead to an increase in employment as well as quality.

In conformity, certain measures have countries for each and every carpet manufacturing the hand woven carpets pertaining to their design, color, dimension, number of knots, yarn, and dyes are determined on a regional basis and are reproduced in the new specimens which are woven in the locations selected for the pilot studies.

The designs, in which the traditional characteristics are integrated with contemporary technology, are transferred to the rugs woven by usually peasant women, supervised by master weavers, who use, depending on the region and depending on the quality, yarns tinted with natural or chemical dyes. We believe that the carpets, which possess the quality and style of their descendants and which is supported with an identity-quality certificate which persuade the carpets admires of every nationality to possess and transfer them to the culture generations with the utmost care and pleasure.

Therefore we consider it is our duty, in the name of carpets culture and art, to protect, support and develop hand woven carpetry, and preservation of best examples of antique carpets found in the museums, mosques and private collections and the reproduction of the old designs and the production of new specimens to bring this exquisite art into new heights.

Cihangir Orman
President
Mega Carpet Group of Companies

Today we can safety say there are over 50 carpet shops in Kuala Lumpur. We are very proud to be considered as one of the pioneer companies which contributed substantially into the appreciation of the carpet culture and art within Malaysia. The new trend has not been achieved instantly; it took countless seminars, newspaper and TV interviews and required a lot of patience and perseverance on our part, but eventually took off. The turnaround of the trend naturally required the balance of the supply and demand graphics to fill the vacuum created by the insufficient supplies and proper carpet retail outlets; Mega carpet not only increased its retail outlets within Malaysia to six shops, but also took the lead by organizing carpet auctions for the first time in Malaysia.

B) Auction

Our company’s purpose to choose carpet auctions as one of its main objective can be classified as such:

1) Purchasing the stocks in Mega quantities naturally creates favorable terms and discounts from the suppliers in comparison to the requirement of small carpet outlets, thus giving us the competitive edge over them.

2) Which in return offering this discount to the auction clients on a “determine the price yourself” basis through “no warranty” auctions. Our clients soon realized that they are able to purchase their carpet below the average market prices and in most affordable terms.

3) To blend the auctions with small seminars to help the newcomer digest and appreciate the carpet culture and art.

4) As the auction client have ample time to view and inspect the carpet on the auction list before the auction started, any inquiries they have had pertaining carpet of their liking have been briefed by our experts present there.

Therefore we consider both objectives have been considerably achieved as:

A) The present number of carpet shops definitely reflects our vision of immense change in public’s perspective over carpet.

B) The apparent increase of our auction clientele all over Asia Pacific.

We have been organizing successful auctions in West Malaysia, East Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and very proud of the respond we have received from our clients and the trust we have built with them.

Needless to say, we are in constant search now of new objectives.
